Visual Designer for DHTMLX 3.0: Demo Video

| Comments (23)

As we have already announced, the upcoming new version of the DHTMLX JavaScript library comes with a Visual Designer tool. We have prepared a video which demonstrates the capabilities of the UI designer and provides a quick introduction to the tool.

Watch the Visual Designer in action and see how easy it is to build web interfaces with this simple drag-and-drop tool. You will be able to try the Visual Designer online with the DHTMLX 3.0 release, which will come out till the end of June. The desktop version of the designer tool will be distributed on a paid basis.

hello, I use dhtmlx for open source projects in the university I am interested in DHTMLX 3.0 Visual Designer. can I get it?

    • ivan June 7, 2011 at 1:03 pm

The beta of the Designer tool is sent only to dhtmlxSuite PRO users. But the online version of the Designer will be available for everyone with the 3.0 release (planned on the end of June).

@Ivan, I think you should try to persuade the DHTMLX management to release BOTH the online and desktop versions of the Visual Designer for FREE to ALL (not just PRO users, but even “potential” customers).

From a business/marketing standpoint, DHTMLX can’t be too stingy with these things in this highly competitive market, especially when a lot of your competitors are giving away development tools for free to win new and keep existing customers.

It also would be a great idea if you offer an aggressive, special introductory price for DHTMLX version 3.0 when you release it. I’m still on the fence as to whether or not I should pay for this product when there are other FREE alternative platforms and libraries available to me. But an aggressive intro pricing for 3.0 will probably persuade fence-sitters and potential new users/customers like me.

Visual Designer is now on the testing stage. The conditions of its distribution at this stage are specific. After the official release of the tool, it’s possible that it will be free in both editions (online and desktop).

I’m curious to know with which tools that designer was built?

    • Inga kravtsova June 8, 2011 at 4:25 pm

The Designer was built with the next generation of DHTMLX library, which is currently in development version.

Hi. I am a pro user, and I was wondering if there is a planned release date for the whole 3.0 suite. The visual designer looks great and will help with some projects I have coming up, but does the visual designer work with the 2.6 suite or does it rely on the 3.0 suite? I am trying to decide if it is better to start my next project with the 2.6 suite and migrate to 3.0 or just wait and use the 3.0 suite, all depending on when I can get my hands on the full 3.0 suite.

Thanks! Great work thus far! I am excited about the prospects of the 3.0 suite and this visual designer!

      > I was wondering if there is a planned release date for the whole 3.0 suite.
Hopefully, it will be released till the end of June.

      > does the visual designer work with the 2.6 suite or does it rely on the 3.0 suite?
Except of form, produced js code is compatible with DHTMLX 2.6.

You are offering us amazing facility. Congrats guys.

After completing a design, does the Visual Designer generate reusable code that we can export in production-ready source code form from within Visual Designer, that we can then use in our favorite code editor like Dreamweaver for more hand-coding and customization?

    • ivan June 20, 2011 at 7:50 pm

Yes, the Visual Designer generates reusable code which can be later used for hand-coding and customization.

Any update on the release of Visual Designer? We have a very big project about to kick-off, and we would love the have access to such an excellent time saver that produces consistent, reusable code.

    • ivan July 6, 2011 at 8:14 pm

If everything goes well, DHTMLX 3.0 with Visual Designer will be released tomorrow (July 7, 2011).
