Offering the tools that make the life of a web developer easier, we would like to introduce another helper – dhtmlxSpreadsheet. It can save a lot of time for those who need to integrate, manage, and share web-based data tables on the web.
Unlike online services (Google Docs, etc.), dhtmlxSpreadsheet can be installed on your website, allowing you to store the data in your own database. This tool is written in JavaScript and PHP (based on dhtmlxGrid) and enables you to put an Excel-like spreadsheet anywhere on a webpage.
dhtmlxSpreadsheet uses Ajax to load and update data on the server side. While the user edits the spreadsheet, adds or removes records, all these changes are automatically saved to the database.

dhtmlxSpreadsheet - JavaScript & PHP Spreadsheet
dhtmlxSpreadsheet is very easy to use. You only need a few minutes to get an editable data table with basic cell formatting, math functions, and keyboard navigation.
Easy Initialization
dhtmlxSpreadsheet comes with a special installer that configures the database settings and creates a necessary database structure.

dhtmlxSpreadsheet Installer
When the database is configured, all you need is just one line of code, for example:
This code generates dhtmlxSpreadsheet on a web page and you get a nice-looking table to organize and share your data.
CMS Integration Plugins
To facilitate the integration of dhtmlxSpreadsheet with CMS platforms, we offer ready-to-use plugins for Joomla!, WordPress, Drupal, and ModX. Use the plugins to quickly add a spreadsheet on your website and configure the editing rights (you can set password protection to edit the records).
Basic Formatting
The spreadsheet supports basic cell formatting options: you can change text color, cell background, set text align, rename column headings, etc. You can also navigate through the spreadsheet with the keyboard and define basic settings right there.

Math Functions
Providing a set of built-in math functions, dhtmlxSpreadsheet allows you to perform different mathematical operations on a cell or group of cells. All calculations are made on the server side so you can be sure that they are accurate and precise.

Export to PDF and Excel
You can easily export your spreadsheets to PDF and Excel formats by clicking the buttons in the top right corner (displaying the buttons is optional).

Clipboard Support
By using ctr+c, ctr+v, you can copy and paste a cell or selected block of cells from dhtmlxSpreadsheet to the Excel document, and vice-versa.
You can place the spreadsheet anywhere on your website and share it with your clients, colleagues, or friends. To learn more about our spreadsheet solution and download the package, visit dhtmlxSpreadsheet homepage.
Comments
Excellent addition to dhtmlx lib. Keep it on guys:-)!
Thanks again for the great work you delivered with this!
Although there seems to be an error in the formulas code. When I try to use the SUM() formula like =SUM(A1:A5) an error in the calculated cell apears with value: #ARG_ERROR. Creating the SUM() works as expected but the error apears after the cell was edited.
Packages updated, so the above error must not occur anymore.
Cool! Will supporting Asp.net?
We do not plan to release an ASP.NET version in the near future, maybe later.
this is working fine in localhost. But its not working when configured in remote access.Pl help me out
Everything works fin on our side. Please submit your question to the forum (registration is free): http://forum.dhtmlx.com/viewforum.php?f=9
We’ll try to investigate your problem.
I tried it, and it is brillant. The ease of inputting data is great. Just a question: for the moment the APIs seem quite basic. Will there be the possibility to lock columns or rows or even add validations in the future?
Locked rows and columns will be added for sure (we have many requests for it).
As for validation, it looks as a good addition as well.
Not quite sure, but I think that version with these features will be available till the end of the year.
Hello,
Thanks for the great application! Two questions: a) Can you select all by clicking on the top leftmost cell, like in Excel? b) Is it possible to undo and redo using CTRL-Z and CTRIL-Y, like in Excel? Thanks again!
Marina.
Ivan, let me rephrase my last question. Is dhtmlxgrid_undo.js available under the GPL open-source license?
Thanks,
Marina.
Marina, these features aren’t available in the current version of dhtmlxSpreadsheet (v.1.0). They will be implemented in the next version. Unfortunately, there is no a specific release date yet.
Can i use the Spreadsheet in ASP.NET application anyhow?
You need PHP to use dhtmlxSpreadsheet. Unfortunately, we don’t have an ASP.NET version yet.
Hello,
We will like to use your spreadsheet in ASP.NET.
Have you upgraded the Spreadsheet package for ASP.NET?
Unfortunately, there is no version for ASP.NET.
Hello Team,
Is asp.net version of DHTMLX is available now?
Hi Pradeep,
Unfortunately, there is no ASP.NET version of dhtmlxSpreadsheet at the moment and we don’t plan to develop it in the near future.
is there any function for Opening File in PC or Local files?
Joseph, not sure what you mean. Please clarify your question.
If you mean export to Excel, there is a button in the header of the spreadsheet.
how to get updated version…. [fx] is not working…..
You can download the latest available version here. If you have any issues with dhtmlxSpreadsheet features, please post your questions to the forum.
can i load a spreadsheet from php with math formulas .user will be able to change few fields but not math formulas
Tony, unfortunately there is no way to deny editing some cells. You may lock the cell with formula, so it will prevent editing of cell, but user can’t unlock it if he wants. Lock/Unlock was designed to prevent occasional changing cells, but not to deny users to edit cells at all.
Can we mearge cell in this please help me
Unfortunately, there is no such an option.
How to get AVERAGE in that
