Update for Quick Tables Available

It has been a while since the initial release of Quick Tables, an incredibly easy PHP solution for displaying and editing tabular data stored on a server. Today we present to you a fresh update for our quick database editor. This update fills in the missing features of the previous version and gives you more control over the grid view.

Before we detail the list of improvements, let’s recall what the Quick Tables module does. It allows you to fetch the data from database tables and show it on a web page in a nice-looking grid view. You can sort, filter, or edit the records of your tables right in the browser, with all changes automatically applied to the server-side database.

Additional Databases Supported
Speaking about databases, we’d like to start with the progress in that area. The recent release of Quick Tables extends the list of supported databases to include MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MS SQL.

Multiple Grid Views
In the new version of Quick Tables, we’ve added the ability to show additional grid views. You can now take data from several tables in the database and display them in different grid views. So you can manage more than one table on the client.

Edit Grid View Configuration
You can customize the configuration of the grid view and define how it will look like on a web page and what operations will be allowed (sorting, filtering, editing). Once the grid view is created, you can edit the configuration file to change the settings.

Export to PDF
Although the initial release allowed you to print the tables after some custom coding, this time we’ve implemented the built-in export to PDF, so it’s now really easy to print the tabular data – just click the button Print.

Multilingual Interface
With this update, Quick Tables goes international. We’ve added the ability to create multilingual interfaces and provided Russian localization. If needed, you can translate the interface of Quick Tables to your language.

To see all these new features in action, download the updated package: Single PHP file installation or PHP/JavaScript sources. Quick Tables is distributed under GNU GPL and comes with the full source code. If you have any suggestions or ideas for future releases, feel free to leave them in comments.
